How to buy a new or used vehicle in Level 3 Lockdown

At Level 3 we’re open for everybody to buy a vehicle

There’s changes obviously, we’re taking this very seriously. The main one is you can’t just come in and see us, the Vehicle Showroom is closed.

But you can still talk to us on the phone or by email. With contactless test drives, trade-ins, and payment arrangements, you still get great service even if we can’t shake your hand.

All vehicles are managed using strict sanitising and safety procedures set out by Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand.

Here’s how the different stages of purchasing will operate while in Level 3 Lockdown.

Viewing Vehicles

The New Vehicles on our website have a comprehensive page for each model. There are specifications, images, videos, and brochures to download and help you with your research.

And our Used Vehicles, in most cases have over 20 of the highest quality photos you’ll find anywhere, plus all the vehicle details and features clearly listed.

Video Walk-Arounds

We’re happy to arrange a Video Walk-Around. This is where we call you via Video Chat (FaceTime, Skype, Zoom – whatever you prefer) and walk around the vehicle showing you and discussing the features.

Test Drives

There are two ways we can arrange a ‘contactless’ test drive.

  1. We arrange a time for you to pick up the vehicle from our dealership. You won’t need to come inside, the car will be outside ready to go.
  2. We can drop off the vehicle to your house and wait while you go for a drive. (Conditions apply)


Along with your name and contact details, we’ll need a copy of your drivers licence before you can go on your test drive. This can be as easy as taking a photo using your phone and txting it to us.

You’re safe with us; We’ll freshly sanitise the vehicle using Mitsubishi’s standard procedures.

Trading In Your Vehicle

There’s two ways we can arrange a ‘contactless’ valuation of your trade in.

  1. We arrange a time for you to bring the vehicle to the dealership. We will ask you to open all the doors/bonnet/boot and then step away from the vehicle so we can assess it. 
  2. Use our Online Trade-In Application to supply details and photos of the vehicle.


In both cases our Sales Manager will then assess the vehicle and prepare a trade in price offer for you.

Applying for Finance

There’s two ways we can arrange a ‘contactless’ Finance Application.

  1. Download and print the Application Document. Once you’ve filled it out, either:
    • Post or courier it to us at 140 Cameron Road, Tauranga
    • Scan and email it to us at carol@baycitymitsubioshi.co.nz
    • Drop it off to the Service Department (A contactless counter has been set up)
  2. Use our Online Finance Application.


In both cases, our Finance Manager will then assess the application and call you to discuss further.

You will most likely also need to provide copies of the following documents.

You can choose to supply these after you’ve had a chat with the Finance Manager about your application, or to speed up the process, you can supply them with your initial application.

  • 2 Current consecutive payslips or 3 months of bank statements
  • A copy of your Drivers licence
  • Proof of address. This can be a letter from a utility company (power, phone, gas) or from the Government or Local Council showing your name and current physical address.

Taking Delivery of Your Vehicle

Once all the details of your purchase have been discussed and agreed upon, we’ll require a $2000 (incl GST) deposit so we can prepare the vehicle for delivery.

There’s two ways you can take delivery of your new vehicle.

  1. We arrange a time for you to pick up the vehicle from the dealership.
  2. We can drop off the vehicle to your house. (Conditions apply)

With each option we’ll freshly groom and sanitise the vehicle ready for you.

Before taking delivery of your vehicle, you’ll need to sign the final Sale Agreement, and Finance documents if you’ve financed through us.

In most cases this can be done by emailing you the documents and you sign digitally. If that can’t happen then we can arrange a contactless procedure when you take delivery of the vehicle.
